3 Acts 13:22 (NIV) 22 After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’

4 Saul took his life. “ Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lod; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance and did not inquire of the Lord. And then David became King over Israel.

5 Many believe the four kings in a deck of cards represent great rulers of the past. If you face a trivia question, the following name assignments are your best bets, although these designations haven't been in use for centuries and are disputed. King of Spades: David, King of Israel from the Old Testament King of Clubs: Alexander the Great, King of Macedonia, who conquered a vast region and lived from 356 to 323 BCE. King of Hearts: Charlemagne, King of France and the first Holy Roman Emperor, who lived from 747 to 814 AD. King of Diamonds: Roman Caesar Augustus. Some sources say the king of diamonds is Julius Caesar, not Augustus.

7 A Man of Obedience But Samuel replied: 1 Samuel 15:22-23 (NIV)
“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices     as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice,     and to heed is better than the fat of rams.  For rebellion is like the sin of divination,     and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,     he has rejected you as king.”

9 A Man of Obedience Psalm 27:4 (NIV)
4 One thing I ask from the Lord,     this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord     all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord     and to seek him in his temple.

10 A Man of Obedience WWJD: What will Jesus Do? Walk with Jesus Daily.

11 A Man of Worship 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 (NIV) Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.  Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.

12 1 Chronicle 16:8-11 8 Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;     make known among the nations what he has done. 9 Sing to him, sing praise to him;     tell of all his wonderful acts. 10 Glory in his holy name;     let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. 11 Look to the Lord and his strength;     seek his face always.

13 1 Chronicle 16:23-26 23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth;     proclaim his salvation day after day. 24 Declare his glory among the nations,     his marvelous deeds among all peoples. 25 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;     he is to be feared above all gods. 26 For all the gods of the nations are idols,     but the Lord made the heavens.

14 1 Chronicle 16:34-36 34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;     his love endures forever. 35 Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior;     gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name,     and glory in your praise.” 36 Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,     from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the Lord.”

15 A Man of Worship 2 Samuel 6:13-16 (NIV)
13 When those who were carrying the ark of the Lord had taken six steps, he sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf. 14 Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, 15 while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets.

16 David Danced

17 A Man of Repentance 1 Chronicles 21:7-8
7 This command was also evil in the sight of God; so he punished Israel. 8 Then David said to God, “I have sinned greatly by doing this. Now, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing.”

18 A Man of Repentance Psalm 51:1-4 (NIV) Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion; blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.

22 A Man of Faith David vs Goliath 1 Samuel 17:45-46 (NIV)
45 David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.

23 David vs Goliath

24 Davidic Covenant 1 Chronicles 17:11-14 (NIV)
11 When your days are over and you go to be with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. 12 He is the one who will build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever. 13 I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor. 14 I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever; his throne will be established forever.’”
