Runoff is water that moves across Earth’s surface (p. 73)
If you think about it, it is part of the rock cycle!

There are 5 main factors that affect how much runoff there is in an area.
1. The amount of rain
4. Shape of the land: steep or flat
2. The amount of plants and vegetation
3. The type of soil
5. How people use the land: parking lot or park

3. Runoff = erosion (usually)
Rivers: large streams!
Types of water channels
Gully: a large groove
Streams: a channel where water is flowing downward
Rills: the running water creates little grooves in the soil
