1. Why Did you choose to take Part in this work ?
I have had a mixed relationship with Social workers, sometimes its been good, sometimes not so good
So when Brendan told us at SYNERGY about this work I thought it would be a great chance for me to be part of something that could make things better.

2. I hoped it would give me the chance to have a real say in how things work
I could help Social workers understand what people with a Learning Disability look for when they need help.
I wanted to help them rebuild trust with people with Learning Disabilities.

3. Why the work we have done is so important ?
I wanted to make sure that people with a learning disability and Social workers got to change there ideas of each other
I wanted to help rebuild the trust between them by helping to put together something that works for both people

4. How do you see the work Making a difference ?
Because we worked together to help put together this new set of rules I think that this will really help for all people to understand each other
Communication with people with a learning disability is so important and that why helping people understand what is happening is so important

5. How do you see the work Making a difference ?
I think the new rules will build on what Social workers already learn but make them even more human
They will be able to talk to people in an easy way with no jargon so we can always understand what is going on
So we feel things are done for us not against us.

6. Why Did you choose to take Part ?
Like Jill I had a mixed view on Social workers but also a very open mind as its been a long time since I have needed to get help.
I wanted to find out how things had change but more important I wanted to be part of something that would make things even better for the future as I still hear from friends with Learning disability mixed views.

7. Why the work we have done is so important ?
When work like this involves people with a Learning Disability, Carers and Social workers all helping to write something
Then that is always an important start
Because we have all been part of the changes and what has been written I think it can bring about better working from everyone

8. How do you see the work Making a difference ?
Trusting professionals is the biggest thing that people with learning disabilities struggle with
I think this new set of rules will help to rebuild that trust and for everyone to work together and that way people with a learning disability who need help will feel they are getting the help they need.

9. They will understand what is going on and they will be much more part of solving the problem
Social workers will be helped by these rules to get better outcomes for the person and that could mean that the person does not need so much help in the future..
