Effect of MPO on surface elasticity of human platelets.Platelets were incubated at 37°C for 10 minutes without (control) or with MPO (100 nM) and then fixed with 1.5% glutaraldehyde for 30 minutes at room temperature before further processing as described in Materials and Methods. Young's modulus of the platelets was measured in the central part of the cell, immediately after the sample preparation. The average values were calculated on the depth of penetration of 25 nm from the force-indentation curves using Hertz's model. Values are mean ± s.e.m. of three independent experiments. *P<0.05, n = 3.
