6 Bangalore Metro Bangalore Mass Rapid Transit Ltd. (BMRTL), is the implementing agency. Project envisages a 33km elevated and underground rail network with 32 stations for Phase 1. Budgeted at more than 54.5 billion rupees ( about US$1.2 billion ). Soil testing started. Project to be completed by 2011. Proposed Route Map

7 Railways Setting up a separate project development company (K–RIDE) for rail projects in Karnataka. Hassan – Mangalore Gauge Conversion project through a Special Purpose Vehicle with equity participation by strategic investors, NMPT and MEL. Hassan – Mangalore rail line is operational and handling freight traffic. To be opened for passenger traffic shortly.

8 Development of Biotech Park in Bangalore
Proposed to be located on 104 acres in Electronic City Phase III, Hosur Road, Bangalore. Private developer responsible for providing core, commercial and support infrastructure, marketing and realty management services. Project development activities under progress. Process for selection of private developer to commence shortly.

Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA) Projects Development of Trunk Road Network & Five Townships : Satellite Town Ring Roads : Connecting Towns located around Bangalore City. Intermediate Ring Roads : Connecting Industrial & Residential Developments. Radial Roads : Radiating from Bangalore City Connecting BMR – Satellite Town Ring Roads & BMR – Intermediate Ring Roads. Townships : Five Townships proposed around Bangalore.

12 Approach First project at Bidadi through bid route & other projects through SPV [Public Private Partnership] mode. Last date for bidding 30th Nov 2006. Aim : Development of integrated work & live infrastructure and not merely creating plots. Master Plan to be prepared by Private Partner / SPV.

13 Plans for Petroleum, Chemicals, Petrochemical Investment Region ( PCPICR ) at Mangalore
Mangalore is a major sea port with a Refinery of ONGC (US$ 20 billion Oil & Gas major) & a Fertilizer Plant. Mangalore is poised to be the major hub of Petroleum, Chemical & Petrochemical Industries of Southern India. A new Coastal Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is planned as a part of the PCPIR. SPV incorporated for SEZ (with ONGC, GoK, IL&FS & others). 13000 acres identified & under acquisition. Government committed to acquire additional land required for the PCPIR. ONGC – Anchor Tenant. 14 Facilities at New Mangalore Port Trust
Deepest Inner harbor with 15.4 m depth at the entrance channel. Deep draft Berths for handling POL and other liquid cargo ( VLCCs & LNG Carriers ). State-of-the-art vessel traffic management system. Special facilities to handle hazardous cargo. Back-up area available for future expansion.

15 Power Total Installed Capacity : 7,858.5 MW.
Peak Demand projected for 2006 – 2007 : Unrestricted Demand : 7,353 MW. Actual Availability : 6,495 MW. % of Shortage : 12 %. Capacity Addition : Taken-up generation of an additional 1,500 MW at a cost of Rs. 5,000 Crores in the next 2 years. 8th Unit of RTPS : 230 MWs (commissioned) 7 Major projects to generate another 4,000 MW at a cost of Rs. 17,000 Crores over the next 5 years at Bijapur, Mysore, Hassan & Gulbarga.

16 Special Economic Zone ( SEZ )
What is a Special Economic Zone? A specifically delineated duty free enclave and shall be deemed to be foreign territory for the purposes of trade operations and duties and tariffs. Any private / public / joint sector or State Government or its agencies can set up an SEZ. Can Foreign Companies set up SEZs? Yes.

21 International Convention Center Near Bangalore Airport
Bangalore has been identified as one of the locations in the country, for setting up a world-class mega convention center. Proposed to be located near the new international airport at Devanahalli. Estimated cost of over Rs. 500 crores. Project being developed under a PPP structure. Project is eligible for financial assistance under VGF. Project related studies are underway. Qualification process commenced.

Estimated Project Cost : Rs. 800 crores 25-30 year concession

Estimated Project Cost – Rs. 800 crores ( including cost of land and rolling stock ). Preliminary studies by IDeCK indicate that project could be implemented as a PPP ( MoR + GoK + private investor / developer ). Route length – approx. 30 kms : Byappanahalli – New International Airport. Estimated travel time of 30 minutes. Estimated fare for one-way trip – Rs. 350 ( ). Check-in facility at city-end terminal. Detailed Project Studies to be undertaken after approval by Cabinet.

24 Eco – Tourism Projects in Karnataka
Jungle Lodges & Resorts, a GoK undertaking, is currently managing 12 eco-tourism based theme resorts in places like Kabini, Dandeli, Karwar etc JLR proposes to develop about 10 new eco–tourism destinations with themes like water sports, trekking, fishing, hang – gliding etc. The proposal envisages development of these projects either as a management arrangements or on long-term BOT concessions. JLR has identified about 4 locations ( Almatti, Bonal tank, Jog Falls, Desur ) for development. Estimated redevelopment costs of Rs crores ( for 4 locations ). Few of the projects would be on offer to interested parties by October – November 2006.

26 Private Operator for GFTS
Government Flying Training School, Jakkur, Bangalore Offers courses and training facilities for obtaining Commercial Pilot and Private Pilot Licenses. GoK proposes to hand over the school to competent private operator on a short-term concession Intention to redevelop, manage and operate the school at international standards Project development process underway Tenders likely to be called in October 2006

27 Inter – modal Transit Center at Bangalore
KSRTC and BMTC propose to jointly develop the existing Kempegowda Bus Terminal at Subhashnagar into an Intermodal Transit Center through Private Sector Participation on BOT basis. Objectives “Welcome gate” which will become the new focus for the city. State of the art / modern terminal infrastructure facilities, amenities, services and conveniences. integration of the terminals with the proposed mass transit system and City Railway Station. Commercial development. Site Area- 31 Acres ; Estimated project cost- Rs 700 Crores Tenders likely in October 2006
