We study at The Secondary School of Nursing and Social Work Our school offers two specializations – Nursing and Social Work After passing the final maturita exams, our students can find their jobs in many institutions such as hospitals and nursing homes. They can study at higher professional schools or universities to achieve higher qualification.

3 Social work Social service workers provide their services in many institutions, such as: - Day care centres (stacionář) State administration (státní správa) Home care Charity Personal assistance Nursing homes for elderlies Maternity centres Non-governmantal organisations and associations

4 What Skills Are Required To Be a Social Service Worker?
Active listening - this means reflecting back what clients say and being engaged in every conversation so that they know you understand them. Emotional intelligence - self-awareness, empathy, and sensitivity to others. Organization - billing, maintaining collateral relationships, making phone calls, and networking with other service providers.

5 What Skills Are Required To Be a Social Service Worker?
Critical thinking - thinking critically and creatively will allow you to effectively help your clients. Tolerance - Being culturally responsive and approaching clients who are from different racial, socio-economic, and ethnic communities with respect and openness is a core component of social work practice. Setting boundaries - leaving work at the office and enjoying personal time will make you a more effective professional and a happier individual.

6 What Skills Are Required To Be a Social Service Worker?
Empathy- understanding others intellectually, culturally, and emotionally is important in social work. Communication - Social workers must communicate in many different ways and with many different people. Verbal and written communication with clients, care-providers and supervisors is necessary. Inner strength Social workers’ work can be emotionally challenging. It is essential to your health that you take care of yourself, emotionally and psychologically.
