Where do you go from here?
Let’s take a broader view of the school corporation. The functions of the buildings are not in the best alignment for optimum utilization. The building sites are congested with vehicular traffic and safety issues. None of the buildings have secure entry conditions. There are many facility needs that create ongoing maintenance costs that diffuse operational dollars.

Where do you go from here?
What if… At the High School Move the 7th and 8th grades to the High School to create an 897 student Junior/Senior High School. Go to a traditional 7 period day instead of the block schedule to get more efficiency out of the room and staff utilization. The overall student population is a better size for more efficient educational programming, especially with courses like Band, Choir, Art, or FACS.

The Current Senior High School

A Junior/Senior High School
5
A Junior/Senior High School
The “shortfall” in space needs at the High School, if we create a Junior/Senior High School, is approximately: 6,300 square feet of classroom space 28,000 square feet of athletic space 16,500 square feet of auditorium space Total of approximately 50,800 square feet. I’ll come back to the Music area short fall
6
A Junior/Senior High School….options?
Do a 50,000 square foot addition that would consist of: A multipurpose field house A new auditorium And the additional classroom space required. In the existing building Convert the current auditorium to a new Band Room Shift the Main entrance to the south and create a security vestibule.
7
Where do you go from here….at the Middle School?
What if Leave the 6th Grade and move the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades to the Middle School to create an “Intermediate School”. There’s plenty of room for that!
8
at the new Intermediate School…..
From the Space Needs Assessment….we know that we need 6 classrooms for each grade level of 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. We also need rooms for the “Specials” such as Art, Music, Reading, and even Science. We could even maintain Special Education in this building. 6th 4th 3rd 5th
9
At this new Intermediate School
Create a new entry drive off of Main Street, with visitor parking. Create a security vestibule at the entry and possibly move the office to the classroom A108. Move the central office and commercial food service to the Middle School. The locations to be studied and determined.
10
Where do you go from here….at the Elementary School?
Retain the newer section of the building as a Pre-K through 2nd Grade School. Once the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades are moved to the Middle School, and the Central Office and support offices are relocated to the Middle School or Intermediate School, demolish the older section of the Elementary School. This space would become expanded parking as well as improved pick-up and drop-off.
11
The Pre-K – 2 Elementary School
At the Elementary School After the older section is demolished, create a parking lot, as well as an expanded pick-up/ drop- off loop for parents. Create a “secure vestibule” at the existing entrance
12
The Pre-K – 2 Elementary School
At the Elementary School The “horse shoe drive” could be used for special needs, bus drop-off?
13
Also ….. The Redskin Drive would become a bus lot for both the Junior/Senior High School as well as the Pre-K – 2 Elementary. Primary, secure entries at all three locations. Better separation of buses and cars. Better utilization of existing facilities. New additions to achieve more opportunities for more students and the community.
