3 Spruce Grove Background
Spruce Grove is located 11km west of Edmonton, shares a boundary with the Town of Stony Plain to the west and is surrounded by Parkland County. Growth of Spruce Grove: 2018 population – This is a 2.5% increase over2017 Census count of ; Average yearly growth rate for the years 2014 to 2018 of 4.9% per annum. Spruce Grove has emerged as a major regional commercial centre and industrial base, and is now home to a number of Industrial Subdivisions which employ an estimated 2,100 people. With a population of people, the City of Spruce Grove is currently Alberta’s 9th largest City .

4 Spruce Grove Development
In 2018, the City of Spruce Grove had 12 Development Agreements with various Land Developers. In those 12 Development Agreements, there were close to 200 residential lots. 2018 Building Permits: Single Detached Residential – 168 ($52 million) Semi Detached Residential – 103 ($33.5 Million) Multi Family – 22 ($4.3 million) Commercial – 8 ($24 million) Industrial – 5 ($3.6 Million) Institutional – 1 ($19.8 Million)

5 Spruce Grove Projects New Growth Water and Sanitary
Definition: Water/Sanitary Trunk Main construction to keep ahead of growth & development. New Growth Transportation Definition: Arterial Roadway construction to keep ahead of growth & development. Major Maintenance and Rehabilitation – Storm Sewer Definition: Improvements and rehab as identified by the Storm Sewer Master Plan Major Maintenance and Rehabilitation – Water/Sanitary Sewer Definition: Yearly, dedicated funding for rehab of the existing water & sanitary sewer system. Major Maintenance and Rehabilitation - Surface Infrastructure Definition: Yearly, dedicated funding for rehab of surface infrastructure.

6 2019 New Growth Water/Sanitary Sewer
On Going Project: Complete Zone 1 Water Reservoir and Pump Station. Expected to be complete by May, 2019. New cubic meter reservoir and pump station to serve the City to a population of people. 2019 Watermain expansion Century Rd to Pioneer Rd: Construction of a 400mm diameter WM along the north side of Hwy 16A from Century Road eastward to Pioneer Road. Future Work: 2020 Boundary Trunk Sewer southward, under Hwy 16A to south of CN Rail.

7 2019 New Growth Transportation
On Going Project: Pioneer Road – road opened to traffic in Nov complete asphalt trails in 2019. Boundary Road detailed design: Design of Boundary Road from Hwy 16A to existing at Copperhaven School. Arterial Roadway – Top Lift Asphalt: Construct top lift asphalt at sections of Jennifer Heil Way, Campsite Road, Grove Drive East. Traffic Signals – Deer Park and Jennifer Heil Way intersection: Construct new traffic signals to support new residential development in immediate area. Future Work: 2020 and Boundary Road construction from Hwy 16A to existing at Copperhaven School including 3 new roundabout intersections.

8 2019 Major Maintenance and Rehabilitation Storm Sewer
The City of Spruce Grove Storm Sewer Master Plan has identified areas for improvement/rehab 2019 Project – Brookwood neighborhood. Additional CB’s, upsizing of approx. 550m of storm sewer pipe and construction of a surge pond at school site north of neighbourhood. Future Work: Lakewood, Grove meadows, Linkside neighbourhoods 2021 – Woodhaven neighbourhood

9 2019 Major Maintenance and Rehabilitation Water/Sanitary Sewer
The City of Spruce Grove has yearly, dedicated funding in place to attend to aging Water/Sanitary Sewer Infrastructure. 2019 Project – Millgrove neighborhood replacement of existing AC watermains and cc’s.

10 2018 Major Maintenance and Rehabilitation Surface Infrastructure
The City of Spruce Grove has yearly, dedicated funding in place to attend to aging Surface Infrastructure. 2019 Project – 250mm depth pavement/gravel base/cement powder pulverization and asphalt paving, 50mm mill and overlay, and concrete sidewalks and curb and gutter removal and replacement in the Broxton Park Neighbourhood.

11 2019 Other Capital Projects
2019 Snow Storage Facility: Construction of a new Snow Storage Facility at a location north of Spruce Grove, in Parkland County that is currently the City’s old sewage lagoons. Facility is expected to store cubic meters of snow at future ultimate design.
