3. Four Pillars of ARISTA Leadership:
It is important for all of you to showcase yourselves as strong leader and role models for your fellow John Bowne peers.
Scholarship:
Academic achievement through attainment of knowledge from ones studies or research.
Service:
It is a mandated act to be involved in school events/programs as well as your community.
Character:
It is crucial to maintain vigilant character throughout the school year, be responsible, determined and committed towards fellow peers and any school assignments.

4. Incentives for College
Having ARISTA membership on your college application is considered an honor. Make it one!
Events sponsored by ARISTA hold weight on one’s resume.

5. Participation in the Society
Fall Semester
Spring Semester
❖ 15 ARISTA Hours
(ARISTA events)
❖ 15 Volunteer Hours
(Extracurricular)
The most important aspect of one’s membership.
You are required to have a minimum of 15 volunteer hours per semester that are NOT affiliated with ARISTA events.

6. ARISTA Hours Fall Semester Spring Semester ❖ 15 ARISTA Hours
(ARISTA events)
❖ 15 Volunteer Hours
(Extracurricular)
In addition to volunteer hours you must have 30 ARISTA hours.
Arista hours will be awarded for a variety of events both pertaining to school and the community.
We will provide you with enough events to accumulate sufficient ARISTA hours.

7. Recording of Hours!
Outside volunteer hours must be documented with an official letterhead from the company/organization
All volunteer hours outside of ARISTA events are to be documented on the log sheet (on the right).

8. Consequences
To uphold the four pillars of ARISTA, members who do not fulfill expectations will be placed on probation.
Members on probation will be monitored closely for improvements. Once improvements are made probation will be lifted.
Actions leading to probation are the following:
-Missing two consecutive meetings or events without valid reason.
-Failure to uphold 15 ARISTA and 15 volunteer hours per semester.

9. Upcoming Events 24th Annual Walk-Along for Lupus
Volunteering in Soup Kitchens
New York Cares Day for schools
Nursing homes (Dry Harbor nursing home and rehabilitation)
Volunteering to provide service to teachers and school community (This counts as your non affiliated ARISTA hours)
