1 Standing on the Promises of God God’s Power in Salvation
Romans 10:9-10, 13

2 II Peter 1:4 (KJV) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

3 Definition The Meaning of Salvation: Here is what our statement of belief says: Salvation is the gracious work of God whereby He delivers undeserving sinners from sin and its results (Matt. 1:21; Eph. 2:8, 9). In justification He declares righteous all who put faith in Christ as Savior (Ro. 3: ), giving them freedom from condemnation, peace with God, and full assurance of future glorification (Ro. 3:24-26).

4 Confusion We can sum up the many views about how one gets saved in two statements: A person is either saved by doing “good deeds or works (performance based), or one is saved by God’s grace and grace alone (grace based).

5 Interpretation What does it mean to be saved or to get saved? Well, first it implies that one was first lost, or in great danger of death. Both terms are great descriptions of a person without Jesus Christ as their own personal Savior. In order for someone to get saved they first must be lost. If you don’t realize you need a Savior by the convicting and drawing power of the Holy Spirit you won’t and cannot be saved.

6 Romans 10:9-10, 13 (KJV) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

7 Romans 10:13 The Universal Call of Salvation
“For whosoever…” This Simple Condition of Salvation “shall call upon the name of the Lord…” The Eternal Certainty of Salvation “shall be saved…”
