Ephesians 4:1-3 Eph. 4:3 - I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, (NKJV)

2 Ephesians 4:1-3 1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

3 Introduction The Christian must follow a certain walk
Worthy of the vocation (calling) Different from the past walk Different from the world’s walk Paul told the Ephesians how to walk this walk Eph 4:3 - I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, (NKJV)

4 WALK In Good Works - 2:10 Opposed to the Worldly Walk
Vs. 2; Romans 12:1-2 Previously walked in trespasses and sin Vs. 2; Romans 6:1-4 Walked in the lust of the flesh Vs. 3; 1 John 2:15-16; Galatians 5:16ff Must walk in good works because we have been created in Christ to do these works – Ephesians 2:10 WALK Eph. 2:10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Eph. 2:2 - Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Rom. 12: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Rom. 6:1-4 - What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Eph. 2:3 - Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 1 Jn. 2: Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Gal. 5:16 ff - READ

5 Worthy of The Calling - 4:1
Must maintain the unity of Spirit - vss. 2-3 With a proper attitude – vs. 2 On the right foundation – vss. 4-6 With Spiritual edification – vss. 8-16 No longer walk as Gentiles – vss Must put off old man – put on new man Vss WALK Eph. 4:1 - I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, Eph. 4:2-3 - With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Eph. 4:4-6 - There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Eph. 4: READ Eph. 4: READ - The Gentile’s reputation was that of following other deities (cf. Galatians 4:8 -Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods). 1Thess. 1:9 - For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; Eph. 4: READ

6 In Love - 5:1-7 When we walk in love, we give of ourselves - vs. 2; 2 John 1:3-6 God gave His son - John 3:16 Must walk as He walked - 1 John 2:3-6 Those who contend sexual immorality is “love” are deceived - vss. 3-7 Homosexuals make this claim Romans 1:22-28 Couples who “shack-up” claim “love” This is “love” of a selfish lust - Romans 1:24 WALK Eph. 5:1-7 - READ Eph. 5:2 - And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. 2 Jn. 1: Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. 4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. 5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another 6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. Jn. 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 1 Jn. 2:3-6 - And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. Eph. 5:3-7 - READ Rom. 1: READ Rom. 1:24 - Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 1 Cor. 6:18 - Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

7 As Children of Light - 5:8-14
Produces the fruit of the spirit Vs. 9; Galatians 5:22-23 Prove what is acceptable to the Lord Vss.10, 17 Have NO fellowship with darkness Vs.11 Expose works of darkness - vss Things hidden by ignorance or deceit John 3:19-21 WALK Eph. 5: READ Eph. 5:9 - (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Gal. 5: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Eph. 5:10 - Proving (finding out) what is acceptable unto the Lord. Eph. 5:17 - Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Eph. 5: And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove (expose) them. 12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. 13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. {reproved: or, discovered} 14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Jn. 3: And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

8 WALK Wisely - 5:15-21 “Redeeming the time”
Using time wisely by serving God - vs. 16 Understand the will of the Lord - vs. 17 Must study and make proper application Not wise when drunk - vs. 18 A waste of time and results in shame Be filled with the Spirit that produces… Melody in the heart – vs. 19 Thanksgiving to Deity – vs. 20 Submission to each other in Godly fear – vs. 21 WALK Redeeming the time - Eph 5:16 (RSV) - making the most of the time, because the days are evil. Eph 5:16 (BBE) Making good use of the time, because the days are evil. Eph 5:16 (MNT) Buy up opportunity, for the times are evil. 1. The wise not only seek to bear fruit unto goodness and righteousness but they are “redeeming the time.” The word “redeeming” (exagorazo) means “to buy up” (LS 268). As each moment is precious in life so is how one spends their time. Solomon had once said, "Buy the truth and sell it not..." (Proverbs 23:23). 2. The idea is that man would see the great value in truth, as opposed to evil, and do all within their power to invest time and energies into being right. Eph. 5: See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

10 Walk Worthy of the Calling
Conclusion How is your walk? Are you walking according to this world or according to your calling? Our walk is to be in God’s wisdom as the Ephesians were taught Walk Worthy of the Calling

11 The Bible Plan Of Salvation
Alien Sinners Must… Hear the gospel – Romans 10:17 Believe the gospel – Romans 10:10 Repent of their sins – Acts 17:30 Confess Christ before men – Matthew 10:32 Be baptized for the remission of sins – Acts 2:38 An Erring Child of God Must… Repent and pray – Acts 8:22 Children of God Must… Live “faithful unto death” - Revelation 2:10 Acts 2:36 - Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Acts 2:37 - Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart (cut to the heart), and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Rom. 10:17 - So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Rom. 10:10 - For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Acts. 17: And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. Matt. 10:32 - Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. Acts. 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 8:22 - Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. Rev. 2:10 - Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
