Standard of living: The level of material comfort available to a country’s citizens.

2 A developing country is a nation with a low living standard and an underdeveloped infrastructure (water supplies, roads, schools, etc.) There is usually much poverty.

3 A developed country is a country that has a highly developed economy, advanced infrastructure, and high standard of living.

4 Literacy rate: the % of people who can read and write

5 A country’s literacy rate directly affects its standard of living.

6 Being unable to read or write is a main cause of poverty.
A country with too many people who can’t read or write will result in poverty, because its people will be unemployable and have lives of poverty.

7 People who can’t read or write on a basic level have very few skills.
They are unable to get good-paying jobs.

8 Different countries of Asia have different literacy rates.
