2 Objectives This lecture will help you: to start your proposal.
to guide for proposal writing.

3 What is Research Proposal?
Is an outline of your dissertation. The purpose of this proposal is to: Define the question Identify the approach to solve the question Explain how it adds value to your field Persuade the founders and supervisors that you are the right person to carry out the research.

4 Structure your Research Proposal
-Title -Abstract -Budget: all details (conflict of interest, ethical) -Specific objectives(the research question … Aim) - Overview and Significance(Preliminary studies and competence of the investigators) Design and Methodology -References -Appendixes

5 Research Overview portray the context.
You should also be able to link your research with the existing researches. The section should also include the major approaches, and the significance of the research (rationale).

6 Design and Methodology
You should specify the design and methods that you will use for your actual research. Research parameters Overall methodology Rationale for adopting the methodology with Aims and objectives A timeline: your work plan to achieve the research objectives within a time period. Mention the specific techniques that you plan to adopt. The type of resources , the methods you will use to collect and analyze the data.

7 References Is a good place to attract attention.
Selection of high-quality resources. Ensure that you include all the resources that you feel are of high importance. The best approach is to include resources such as textbooks and journal articles rather than internet article and blogs

Clear research question Appropriate study design Concise and feasible methodology Qualified research team (if present)

10 Specific section Self- Informative title Self –sufficient abstract
Specific aim or the research question clearly Rigorous, and determined objectives Relevant studies to demonstrate notions Relevant background and significance of the study. Realistic time table appropriate to the work or budget. Good pilot study for quality control Fair sample size Ethical issues need to address

Concise, well- structured and well-organized Clear diagrams, graphs and tables Neat and free of errors

12 Additional Tips Ensure researching all the important literature before finalizing the idea and research questions. Clearly, state your research question. Take time to draft and formulate your research questions. Ensure that you have properly structured your proposal. Make sure that you include a reasonable scope of your proposal (rationale). Ensure that your proposal sounds persuasive
