5 The National Lottery Community Fund
We give out money raised by players of the National Lottery to communities across the UK In 2017/18 we awarded over £500 million When people are in the lead, communities thrive. People understand what’s needed in their communities better than anyone. Our approach is to listen, collaborate and fund so that good things happen. Small and large grants available; flexible funding. We can fund a mix of project activities, operating costs, organisational development and capital costs. When people are in the lead, communities thrive

6 Two Ridings Community Foundation
If you are a local grassroots group in North Yorkshire you need to get to know us, your local community foundation. Community Foundations are grant making charities that are dedicated to improving the lives of people in a defined local geographic area. Our focus is accessible funding for local, grassroots groups In 2018/19, we gave over £1m to a variety of groups and projects We have a diverse portfolio of funds helping to address issues like loneliness, mental wellbeing, improving community cohesion and connectedness and enhancing skills and employability. Before applying pick up the phone…it saves your time and ours!

7 By being good at telling your story…
Be succinct Talk about how you developed your idea and involved people who will benefit from it Talk about why Show you have a good understanding of what others are doing

8 By sharing good news…

9 Top tips for any funding application
Read eligibility on website Read the guidance notes for the scheme carefully Answer the question being asked Make sure your budget is right Provide all supporting documentation Ask someone else to read the application Keep to the point, try and make answers as succinct as possible, no jargon! Always bear in mind the criteria and priorities of the scheme If you need help, ask Don’t miss the deadline! Read our Am I Eligible page 2.    Read the guidance notes for the scheme carefully – we have a number of grant schemes, each with its own individual criteria in addition to our basic criteria which applies to all applicants - check you are eligible and what the grant scheme will and will not fund 3.    Answer the question being asked – as simple as it sounds, we often receive applications which give us plenty of information and statistics but then neglects to answer the actual question that was asked 4.    Make sure your budget is right – check the figures add up and then check them again 5.    Provide all supporting documentation – without the supporting documentation we cannot process the application 6.    Ask someone else to read the application through, ideally someone who does not know your project. If it makes sense to them, there’s a good chance that it will to us too 7.    Keep to the point and try and make answers succinct 8.    When answering questions, always bear in mind the criteria and priorities for the scheme that you are applying to 9.    Don’t miss the deadline – check the date that your application needs to be received in the office and don’t miss it!        10. If you need any help, contact us by phone or , we are always happy to give advice or sign post you to another organisation that can help if we cant.
