2. A is for Alliteration
Alliteration is the repetition of the same sounds – usually the initial consonants of words or of stressed syllables.
“My house was at the very tip of the egg, only fifty yards from the Sound, and squeezed between two huge places that rented for over fifteen thousand a season”(7).

Buchanan is the last name of Daisy and Tom – two of the main characters in the novel. Tom is a wealthy man who lives in East Egg with his wife Daisy. Tom and Daisy have an unhappy marriage.
“They had spent a year in France, for no particular reason, and then drifted here and there unrestfully wherever people played polo and were rich together”(8).
