2 A is for Alliteration Alliteration is the repetition of the same sounds – usually the initial consonants of words or of stressed syllables. “My house was at the very tip of the egg, only fifty yards from the Sound, and squeezed between two huge places that rented for over fifteen thousand a season”(7).

3 B is for Buchanan Buchanan is the last name of Daisy and Tom – two of the main characters in the novel. Tom is a wealthy man who lives in East Egg with his wife Daisy. Tom and Daisy have an unhappy marriage. “They had spent a year in France, for no particular reason, and then drifted here and there unrestfully wherever people played polo and were rich together”(8).

5 Instructions: You and your partner will evaluate the text and create an A to Z presentation about The Great Gatsby and then present it orally to the class. Each slide of your presentation should include a word in the title that corresponds to that letter in the alphabet (A is for _____), an explanation of the word, evidence from the text exemplifying that explanation, and an appropriate image. Include a “Sources Cited” page for pictures and definitions.
