Love, Like, Value, Keep Applied Parenting – Starts as we place Ourself before the Lord as we “sit” under His parenting, and then extend that to our Children and their Children!

70/70/70 Prayer Father God, we acknowledge our dependence on you as our source of provision, strength, and peace. We are confident that you will meet all our needs today. We willingly surrender our spirit, soul, and body to allow your love and light to flow through us and accomplish your will in the world around us. We ask for favor and blessing in whatever we face. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Love, Like, Value, Keep Applied Parenting – Starts with Our Self before the Lord as we “sit” under His parenting, and then extend that to our Children and their Children!

All believers are “children of Israel”, see Romans 11:25-27
All believers are “children of Israel”, see Romans 11: As such, we as parents are being parented by the Lord and the Word, even as we parent our children. This is both humbling and honoring! We are never too old to be “parented”! A key guideline: as the Lord parents you, in like manner parent your children.

Deut 6:1 Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, 2 that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.

The Commandments: The Lord charges us to do these: (A summary below) Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, and strength Love your neighbor as yourself. Understand the 10 commandments and apply them All the Lord commands in the New Testament, including tithing We do these out of obedience to honor the Lord and exeperince His blessings

From Verse 1…. and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you … Statues – Define the boundaries of the commandments. People need boundaries. Judgments – A two-pronged application: 1) first is discerning what is right vs. wrong, and 2) applying reward or discipline and or punishment.

“To teach you” – instruct, including the discipline of being trained to “do” what is taught. Note: Verse 2, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life (applies to all to benefit from good outcomes)

The whole purpose is that each person may Fear the Lord.
V1, … that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, 2 that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. The whole purpose is that each person may Fear the Lord. Fearing the Lord is a learned behavior characteristic including reverence, obedience, and awareness of consequences. Proverbs 1:1-7 receiving instruction from the Lord leads to Godly life.

Deut 6:3 Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord God of your fathers has promised you … Israel means “God prevails” describing those who persist and prevail in trusting the Lord for outcomes. “Hearing” includes listening with understanding coupled with “doing”. All communication must be two way – hearing “them” and making sure “they” hear you.

Deut 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one
Deut 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Rev 2:7 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God."'

Deut 6:6 And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. The Lord saying to incorporate His word, commands and ways into everyday living. Listen to the Word as a family. Talk of how He has changed your life.

Deut 6:13 You shall fear the Lord your God and serve Him and shall take oaths in His name. Here “oaths” mean that your life & parenting style is based on His Word.

Eph 6:1-4 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right
Eph 6:1-4 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise: 3 "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth." 4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Wrath is an inner seething anger, rage, annoyance, indignation, outrage, exasperation. Col 3:21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

1 Thess 2:7 But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children. 1 Thess 2:11 as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children, 12 that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

Establishing the Family Atmosphere
Titus 2:1-5 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: 2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things — 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed. NKJV

Titus 2:4 … women to love their husbands, to love their children Here the word love is a derivation of the Greek word “philos” meaning a friendly love Maintaining friendship is hugely important in a family, but it doesn’t overrule maintaining “parental authority” and discipline

1 Tim 3:4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. NIV Eph 6:10-18 training to stand in the Lord’s strength against intimidation & bullying The goal is to be a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, not ashamed of Him, and confident in ourselves and relationship with others

Never abdicate your responsibility to listen, instruct, and guide your children in their choices and in their temperament, especially all the way through the teen years. Never, Ever! VACATE OR ABDICATE your responsibility as a parent that the Lord’s blessings be increased in your and in future generations.

From Eph 6:10-13 (Paraphrase) 10 Finally, … make a family stand against the strategy of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against powerful deceiving spiritual influences on people and society. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Prayer is essential: 1) Totally be dependent on the Lord for His salvation and deliverance for our children, and 2) Pray a shield of spiritual covering over spouse and children.
