The Christ-Centered Home

The Christ-Centered Husband

“the man who seeks to live his life and manage his home in a way that puts Christ at the Center.
He does this by following Christ’s instructions found in the Sacred Scriptures.”

LEAD HIS HOME

“Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” 1 Corinthians 11:3 NIV “For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.” Ephesians 5:23 NIV

What kind of leadership are you offering in your home?

2. LOVE HIS WIFE (and Kids)

“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ
“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.” v. 21 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church--for we are members of his body. "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." This is a profound mystery-- but I am talking about Christ and the church.

However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” Ephesians 5:21, NIV

A Love That Is… Volitional. Sacrificial.

A Love That Is… Volitional. Sacrificial. Sanctifying. Sensitive.

Is this the kind of love you are offering in your home?

3. PROVIDE FOR HIS FAMILY

“If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” 1 Timothy 5:8 NIV

Are you seeking to provide for your family, looking to God as your ultimate source?

4. GUIDE HIS FAMILY

“These are the commands, decrees and laws the LORD your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. Hear, O Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase

greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, promised you. Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down

and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:1-9 NIV

Are you fulfilling this most important responsibility?

“the man who lives his life and manages his home in a way that seeks to put Christ at the Center. He does this by following Christ’s instructions found in the Sacred Scriptures.”

The Christ-Centered Husband seeks to Lead, Love, Provide For, and Guide His Home.

The Husband in Your Home… How Christ-Centered Is He?

What Do You Need to Do to Bring Christ to the Center?

the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. 1 Corinthians 11:23-29 ESV
