3 The apostles were empowered to do miracles when they were baptized with the spirit.

4 Gifts of the Holy Spirit were miraculous abilities to speak or to perform deeds.
A variety of gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:4-11): For the common good A gift for an individual (12:28-30) As the Holy Spirit willed

Gifts of the Spirit were to be regulated in the assemblies of the church (1 Corinthians 14:26-40): Take turns speaking by your gift No gift of interpretation present – gift of tongues keep silent Gifts are under control of the person Do not disregard the Lord’s commandments Do everything properly and orderly

8 Gifts of the Holy Spirit were predetermined to cease (1 Corinthians 13:8-13).
Prophecy, tongues and knowledge were gifts from the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:8-10). The “in part” and “the partial” were already determined to be done away. Contrast between partial revelation and “perfect” (complete) revelation of God’s word.

9 Gifts of the Holy Spirit were predetermined to cease (1 Corinthians 13:8-13).
Contrast between partial revelation and “perfect” (complete) revelation of God’s word. Jesus is not “the perfect” in this context. Faith, hope and love still abide after “the partial” is done away. Full knowledge comes through the full revelation of the gospel of Christ. 2 Peter 1:3; Romans 16:25-26; James 1:21; Jude 3

10 Gifts of the Holy Spirit were predetermined to cease (1 Corinthians 13:8-13).
Contrast between partial revelation and “perfect” (complete) revelation of God’s word. The imparting of gifts of the Spirit also has ceased. No apostles are living today to lay their hands on Christians to give the Holy Spirit to impart a gift.
