In Stage 1, the proximal anastamosis is performed with circumferential felt reinforcement while distal perfusion maintains intercostal and renovisceral flow. In Stage 2, renovisceral flow is maintained while patent intercostals are controlled with balloon occlusion catheters for creation of aortic inclusion islands.
