2 DEFINITIONS CLASSICAL ANTIQUI
This period in hystory begin with the invention of writting and ended with the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 AD . It was an era of grat civilisations ( The greeks , The Romans, The sumerians , The Egyptians..) IBERIANS They were the firts people who lived on the iberian península. They occupied the easter and southern territories. CELTS They came from Europe crossing the pyreness. They occupied the northern (Cantabria , Duero and Ebro valleys)and central teritories. ROMANIZATION It refers to when the people of the península adopted to the Roman way of life: culture , language and customs .

5 iberians They were the firts people that lived on the iberian península, They practice farming and animal husbandri. They had their own writting system and made sculptures . They lived in fortified villages .

6 CELTS The Celts arrived on the península .
From Europe , crossed the Pirrenes and occupied the región of Cantabria, Duero and Ebro valleys and the Central plateau. Owned livestock skilled metal workers. Made weapons, tols and iron.They lived in Stone , adobe and reed huts.Formed forti fied villages called castros.They knew how to write and make Stone sculptures or verracos that protected the livestock.

7 CELTIBERIAN The celtiberians are the iberian and the celts together .
Because over time they got together and do the celtiberian. They are sitúate near the central territories .

11 THE TARTESSIANS At the mouth of the Guadalquivir River . They traded with the Greeks and the Phoenicians. They knew how to work with metals. The Carthaginians travelled from northern Africa and landed on the Eastern coast of the Iberian península and the Balearic Islands. They wereinterested in trading , but alsou in conquering .They founded ( Cartagena) The carthaginians

12 THE ROMANISATION OF HISPANIA
Durin the conquest, The Romas called the península Hispania. They adopted Rome’s language , Latin. The Roman laws and goverment systems. They founded many cities , like Tarraco ( Tarragona), Augusta Emerita ( Merida) and Italica ( near Sevilla). They build a network of roads and bridges that made between cities and trade easier . They alsou build aqueducts . They build amphitheatres , circuses and termal baths.

13 ROMAN SOCIETY Cities were the centre of their lives, they alsou lived in the country. A large country house called a villa. In Hyspania , The Romans revolutionised farming, thanks to the Roman plough , windmills, irrigation and fertiser. Society was organised into free people and slaves. Free people (patricians ) and por people (plebeian) . Roman cities . Slaves had no rights and were the property of their owners. They worked in mines , on the farms or fought as gladiators.

They build temples for the gods , basílicas for trade and for holding trials. They make sculptures with marbol , The mosaics on the floors with tiny pieces called tesserae.
