1. SAIC has developed a prototype applying its AI platform, Synthetic Analyst, to the physician's office. The intent is to increase the time a doctor can spend on patient care by reducing their time and money spent on the insurance billing process, as well as provide validation for the insurance companies that doctors are providing honest and correct diagnoses for expensive claims. Synthetic Analyst is an AI platform developed to integrate mission-specific capabilities to perform workflows dynamically and transparently. In this case, that means integrating the medical device that takes a scan (such as an OCT machine for scanning the retina), machine learning algorithms for identifying pathologies from the scan, the EMR system with patient information and history, the doctor's expert validation and input, and the rules and requirements associated with insurance forms. By integrating these systems Synthetic Analyst can streamline the process from diagnosis to insurance billing, enabling a doctor to spend more time providing treatment and less time worrying about billing for it. In addition, the insurance company can trust a diagnosis validated by a machine learning algorithm trained with the expertise of many doctors, as opposed to just one, reducing insurance claims fraud.
