2 Student Assembly Updates
Executive Committee has met at UAlbany, Farmingdale, Clinton, Mohawk Valley, and Hudson Valley-- Will meet at New Paltz, and Geneseo. Fall Conference 2018 big success-- over 450 students representing more than 55 campuses Hosted Local Advocacy Week December 3rd-7th SUNY Voices Conference had 50 students, thank you to Nina and Gwen for collaboration! SUNY Board Roundtables hosted across state-- valuable feedback for student life committee Call with Senator Gillibrand

3 Upcoming Events Joint Federal Advocacy Trip- January 27th-30th
Travelling to DC with CUNY, California, Florida system student governments Meeting with members of congress, representatives from Trump Administration, other higher ed interest groups Platform calls for support for federal financial aid programs, permanent legal status for DACA Recipients, and opposition to Title IX Changes Higher Education Action Day- February 12th Collaboration with NYSUT, UUP, PSC, CUNY USS, NYPIRG-- Over 500 people attend Spring Conference April 5th-7th Hosted at Saratoga Hilton Student Assembly Elections Resolutions

4 Advocacy Change in Senate control has major implications for our advocacy, new relationships necessary We have had meetings with Chair Glick and Chair Stavisky to discuss our advocacy priorities Important to build bridges with new NYC-dominated senate Meeting with all members of higher education committee in the coming month-- members of finance and ways and means committees next month Testified on Maintenance of Effort in December 5th Testifying before Joint committee hearing on January 28th

5 Budget Takeaways Appreciate support for retroactive payments due to UUP members-- urge state to fund full cost of the contract DSH match add back is helpful-- hospitals require more support 27/30 community colleges facing cuts as a result of no change to formula Cuts to opportunity programs likely to be restored Telecounseling program eliminated
