2. Committee on Chemical Safety (CCS) Work This Year
The Committee worked with several ACS stakeholders to plan and host the 2019 ACS safety summit in March. The topic of discussion this year was “Chemical Safety Education”. Attendees represented ACS governance units, technical division, staff and external subject matter experts.
The attendees developed conceptual plans for six specific ideas which were identified as aligning with the ACS Strategic Plan. Champions for each of these ideas have been identified.
The CCS plans to hold a strategic planning retreat in 2019 to review its strategic plan from 2014 and update it based on the many changes in the ACS safety strategy since that time.
