2. James 4:13-17
{13} Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: {14} Whereas ye know not what [shall be] on the morrow. For what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. {15} For that ye [ought] to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. {16} But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. {17} Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth [it] not, to him it is sin.

5. Today, Acknowledge the lord
The men of James 4 failed to acknowledge god in their plans
Ought to have said, “If the lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that” (Js. 4:15)
Proverbs 3:6 – “in all thy ways acknowledge him…)

6. Today, live in the present
For we know not what a day may bring forth (Prov. 27:1)
Paul’s Example in Phil. 3
Forgetting those things behind
Reaching forth to the things which are before
Phil. 1:19-26 – the result of living this way
Redeem the time – Eph. 5:15-17

7. Today, do what the lord wills
Christ example of doing the lord’s will – Mt. 26:36-46
The wise man hears and obeys – Luke 6:46-49
Seek first the kingdom – Matt. 6:33

8. Today, do what is right without procrastinating
It is a sin not to do good when we know to – James 4:17
Doing what is right requires more than words – James 2:15- 16
Don’t wait until tomorrow! – Prov. 3:27-28
We don’t know if we will have another opportunity to:
Teach others (Mk. 16:15-16)
Study God’s Word (2 Tim. 2:15)
Be an example (Mt. 5:13-16)
Encourage others (1 Thess. 5:11)
Obey the gospel (Acts 22:16)

9. My life as a vanishing vapour
Our days are as a shadow that passeth away (Ps. 144:4)
Today we should:
Remember who is really in control
Acknowledge the lord
Live in the present
Do what the lord wills
Do what is right without procrastinating
