15 Office Open XML Rendering Extensions
Support for new file formats for Word and Excel Word rendering to *.docx format Excel rendering to *.xlsx format Formats introduced in Office 2007 Feature parity More data, smaller files 1M rows of data and 16K columns ZIP-compressed files More colors 16M colors (24-bit)

16 Pervasive Insight END USER ALERTING SITUATION TODAY
Proactive and responsive data monitoring that enables action. Data Alerts help IWs cope with information overload. Intuitive and flexible alert rules customized to each Information Worker. Need for the ability to proactively respond to exceptional data changes or trends. Data volumes are always increasing leading to data overload. Each Information Worker needs to monitor data specific to their job. Microsoft SQL Server 2011 new Self Services Alerting capability makes it trivial for any end user while viewing a report to define rules and thresholds on data and be alerted when they are reached. This transforms a traditional pull mode activity to a push mode activity greatly increasing Information Workers productivity.

17 End User Alerting How to Create & Manage Data Alerts
How to Monitor Data Alerts How Data Alerts fit in the IT Tool Chest

18 Data Alert Workflow Create Alert Delivery Alert Management

19 For IT Administration deployment Monitor Performance
Install SSRS in SharePoint Integrated mode Configuration settings are stored in SharePoint DB Monitor Execution log in alerting database Trace Log is in SSRS trace log and ULS Performance Use performance counters to determine overloading & scale-out requirements More frequent alerts will require more resources

20 Creating Reports for Alerting
Each data region in a report can provide a data feed Set RDL property “DataElementOutput” (on by default) Set DataElementName for column names Create data regions to enable improved alerting experience Easily Create Data Alerts Integrated within SharePoint Developed for Simplicity
