Type WordPad in the Search box Tap or click WordPad to run the WordPad app Type the desired text in the WordPad document, pressing the ENTER key each time you want to start a new line

Click the File tab to display the File menu Click the Save As command on the File menu to display the Save As dialogue box Type the file name in the File name box Click Documents in the Navigation pane to specify that you want to save to the Documents folder Click the Save button to save the document and close the Save As dialog box

Ready the printer according to the printer’s instructions Click File on the ribbon to display the File menu Click Print on the File menu to display the Print dialog box If necessary, click the appropriate printer to select your printer Click the print button to print the document and return to the WordPad window

Click the File Explorer button on the taskbar. Right-click an open area of the Documents folder to display the shortcut menu. Point to New on the shortcut menu to display the New submenu Click Text Document on the New submenu to display an entry for a new text document in the Documents folder window

Name the document. Open a document with WordPad. Add text to a blank document. Save the Text Document in Rich Text Format (.rtf)

To Change the View to Small Icons Click View on the ribbon to display the View tab. Click the Small icons button to change the view to display small icons. Figure 2-23: Click View on the ribbon to display the View tab.

To Arrange Items in Groups by File Type Click View on the ribbon to display the View tab. Click the Group by button on the Group by menu. Click Type on the Group by menu to display the files and folders grouped by type. Figure 2-25: Click the Group by button on the Group by menu.

To Create and Name a Folder in the Documents Folder Click the New folder button on the Quick Access Toolbar to create a new folder. Type the desired name in the icon title text box and then press the ENTER key to name the folder and store the folder in the Documents folder To Move a Document into a Folder Right-click and drag icon to the desired folder icon to display the shortcut menu. Click the Move here command on the shortcut menu to move the desired icon.

To Change Location Using the Address Bar Click the Documents arrow on the address bar to display a location menu that contains a list of folders in the Documents folder Click the desired folder on the location menu to display the contents of the folder. Click the This PC button on the address bar to switch to the This PC window. Click the arrow to the right of This PC on the address bar to display a location menu. Click Documents on the location menu to move to the Documents folder.

To Display and Use the Preview Pane Click View on the ribbon to display the View tab. Click the Preview pane button to display the Preview pane. To Close the Preview Pane Click the Preview pane button to close the Preview pane.

To Pin a Folder to the Start Menu Right-click desired folder to display a shortcut menu Click ‘Pin to Start’ on the shortcut menu to pin desired folder to the Start menu To Open a Folder Using a Pinned Icon on the Start Menu Click desired tile to open Click the Close button on the title bar to close the window.

To Remove a Pinned Folder Icon from the Start Menu Display the Start menu Right-click desired tile on the Start menu to display the shortcut menu Click ‘Unpin from Start on the shortcut menu to remove tile To Create a Shortcut on the Desktop Right-click the desired folder to display the shortcut menu. Point to Send to on the shortcut menu to display the Send to submenu. Click ‘Desktop (create shortcut) on the Send to submenu to create a shortcut on the desktop.

To Remove a Pinned Folder Icon from the Start Menu Display the Start menu Right-click desired tile on the Start menu to display the shortcut menu Click ‘Unpin from Start on the shortcut menu to remove tile To Create a Shortcut on the Desktop Right-click the desired folder to display the shortcut menu. Point to Send to on the shortcut menu to display the Send to submenu. Click ‘Desktop (create shortcut) on the Send to submenu to create a shortcut on the desktop.

To Display an Inactive Window Point to the app button on the taskbar to display a live preview. Click a live preview to make it the active window. When the window open, place cursor at desired insert point and type.

21 The Recycle Bin To Move a Text File to the Recycle Bin
Drag the text icon to the Recycle Bin. Do not release the mouse button. Release the mouse button. Click the Close button on the title bar. To Restore an Item from the Recycle Bin Double-click the Recycle Bin icon to open the Recycle Bin window. Click the desired shortcut icon to select it. Click Manage on the ribbon to display the Recycle Bin Tools Manage tab. Click the ‘Restore the selected items’ button.
