1 Bell Work: heat Heat transferred when two objects touch is called ( convection / conduction / radiation ). Temperature is average ( kinetic / potential ) energy of the particles. The change in thermal energy =‘s the ( heat/ cold ) added to minus the work done ( on / by ) the object. All things naturally become ( more / less ) disordered. Heat flows from ( hot / cold ) to ( hot / cold ).

2 Today: I will give out performance final grades and have a few individual conference. Create a pictorial representation of one of the thermal AKS’s. Present to the class at the end of the period on the lady bug. Work in groups of 1, 2, or 3. Use your own paper – I have some colored pencils and markers. Be able to explain your picture and connect it to the AKS. Use vocabulary words! Label the AKS on your picture. Pictures need to be original.

3 17a - investigate molecular motion as it relates to thermal energy in terms of conduction, convection and radiation 17b - investigate the transformation of energy in real systems (e.g., a motor changes electrical energy to mechanical energy) 17c - define temperature in terms of kinetic energy and common temperature scales 17d - distinguish between internal energy and heat 17e - explain how the quantity of heat that enters or leaves a system is measured 17f - distinguish between work done on a system and work done by a system AKS for Thermal
