3 Why Bond!? Atoms like to have 8 electrons in their outer ring.
Stable octet

4 Molecular Bonding Happens between two non-metals.
Involves the sharing of electrons. The sharing of electrons is called a covalent bond.

5 Draw the Lewis Dot diagram and name the molecule formed by Nitrogen and Hydrogen.

6 Naming Covalent Compounds
You write the name of the first element and the second element second element s ending is changed to ’s ending is changed to “-ide” We use prefixes to state the number of each element present (never put “mono” on the first element) One = mono- Two = di- Three = tri- Four = tetra- Five = penta
