Mission: promote walking, bicycling and public transit to create healthy, sustainable and equitable communities. Advocate for legislation that prioritizes and protects bicyclists, pedestrians and transit riders. Membership based

4 Bike to Work Challenge Free and Easy - Chicagoland organizations compete to log the most miles by riding to work Build morale and promote friendly competition among Chicagoland organizations Goal: Encourage new and experienced riders to commute to work by bike

6 2018 Stats 2018 Total Participants 3,468 Teams 276 Organizations 246

7 2018 Stats cont. 50% of riders are first time bike commuters
50% of all participants were between the ages of 26-40 60% identified as male while 40% identified as female 141,025 miles logged (~41 miles/rider) 26,876 trips were made (average of 7.75 trips/rider)

8 What is a Team Captain? Each competing workplace will have a volunteer team captain (you!) Your job is to encourage riders in your workplace to sign up and will act as your team’s biggest cheerleader

Help register coworkers Encourage newbies to try it out Act as a resource for bike commuting tips Communicate often Set up group commutes What else?

10 How to Register & Create a Team
Register at bike2workchallenge.org Create an “Organization Team” Search for your organization Create a team name

11 Team Management When logged in, Team Captains can…
Add or delete team members Send out team communications Challenge other teams Change passwords Update organization info

13 How You Win Riders will have their points totaled as they log them
Individual riders will be combined to get the team total All teams under one organization will be combined to get the organization total Whichever organization has the highest point total within their workplace tier wins! ALL points must be from June 14th – 28th

16 NEW Referral Points Earn extra points for your team by encouraging others outside of your organization to sign up for the Bike to Work Challenge! You'll receive 10 points for each rider who signs up using your code, and they will receive 5 points Only riders outside of your organization will count toward your referral point total

17 What Counts as a Trip? A bike trip (or commute), for the purposes of the Bike to Work Challenge, is defined as: A partial or complete bike ride to or from work A bike ride to or from the bus, train, or alternate form of transportation taking you to or from work Only trips that are made for work purposes will be counted during the challenge. To be counted in your teams point total, all you need to do is complete ONE bike trip between June
