2 Assignment #1 - Storyboard Graphs of Inequalities
Currently we have a 2 part lesson on Inequalities in our system. Module 1 is “Inequalities” and addresses general rules of inequalities. Module 2 is “Graphing Inequalities.” You will: Review how module 1 was improved Create a storyboard flowchart for the new and improved version of module 2, “Graphing Inequalities.” Preparation: Review the existing “old” version of the inequalities module 1 here. (Screen list: Inequalities1) Look at a the storyboard for this lesson on the following slide. Look at the storyboard flowchart for the updated version of the lesson on the slide after.

3 This is the storyboard for the “old” version of Inequalities:

5 How to Do the Assignment
Watch the existing “old” version of the graphing inequalities module here. (Screen list: Inequalities2) Storyboard the “old” version. Create a storyboard flowchart using Google Drawings. (Go to FILE > MAKE A COPY and save your copy as “LASTNAME_MathAssignment1”) NOTE: Please note the link here is the same as the link on slide 2. Use the display options toggle in the upper right hand corner of the screen to view turn the screen history ON. This will allow you to view the screen list and skip around to the different screens.

6 Some Tips for Assignment #1
1. Add arbitrary choice opportunities (to keep students invested/engaged/clicking). Arbitrary choices use black arrows. 2.Present students with a practice problem, then explain/teach using problem as example 3.Give students at least one opportunity to do more questions if they want 4. Break up videos. Add branching to questions. Add explanation videos to new questions as needed (you do not need to do any editing for this assignment, but think about how you might break up the existing video and reflect in your storyboard) Create new questions as needed. 5. Look at the rubric for this assignment.

7 Submissions will be evaluated on:
Thoughtfulness of lesson flow Ability to follow instructions/willingness to reach out for clarification Effective leveraging of branch cases to instruct

8 Assignment #2 - Increasing Question Functionality
Add engaging, instructive feedback and branching options for an existing SAT question using the template (please fill in all fields highlighted yellow) Some tips Take time to research the concept online before beginning. Why is the correct answer correct? What are some common mistakes students might make on a question like this? Thinking like the student will help inform your feedback and branch cases. Think about the tone of your feedback: are you academic? Supportive? Funny? Serious? It doesn’t matter which you choose, so long as you are consistent Naming conventions are important (for question name and each choice/reason input). Be creative and have fun! :)

9 Assignment #2 - Requirements
Question: Flow: Assignment #2 - Requirements For each possible response (A-E), there should be a correct or trap (error) state with feedback Question has 3 attempts total. If wrong on 3rd attempt, student should be moved to the video. If correct on 3rd attempt, student should be moved to a screen labeled “Next Question”. Question Concept Walk Through Video (suggest new screen name) Wrong Next Question Correct

10 Assignment #2 - Increasing Question Functionality
Submissions will be evaluated on: Effective use of tools to instruct on the concept Economy of language/effective naming conventions Effective, independent research of the topic being taught Please include links to your source(s) Attention to directions/willingness to reach out for clarification Tip: Look at the rubric for this assignment.

11 ADAPTIVITY NEXT Share Assets: No

E.g., incorrect arithmetic, wrong angle choice, etc. 2-3 words. **See next slide for further info**} Conditions: {attempt #} Feedback: {A written message} Proceed to screen: {Suggested new screen name} Choice/Reason: B / {Why was this chosen?} Conditions: {attempt #} Action: N/A Choice/Reason: D / {Why was this chosen?} Choice/Reason: E / {Why was this chosen?} NEXT Notes:
