Each example will not be listed, but more than one joint can move in the same direction/manner.

Note to teacher, do not have students memorize names of joint types. The new focus is more on structure and function. Have students look at the shape of the ends of the bones where they meet at the joints. The shape of the bones determines the type of motion that will occur at that joint. Rounded ends that join at a cup-shaped joint ( ball and socket) will allow the greatest range of motion. Flat ended bones ( hinge ) will allow a back and forth or up and down type motion.
