1 STUDIO MAINTAINANCE

2 Students will receive a test grade each quarter based on the completion of their assigned studio maintenance task.

3 WASHING PAINTBRUSHES

4 1. CLEAN YOUR BRUSH IMMEDIATELY AFTER USING IT.
Forgetting to clean a brush often means buying a new one. Acrylic paint is made of plastic and will not wash out of brushes once it has dried.

5 2. CLEAN YOUR BRUSHES WITH BRUSH CLEANER, detergent OR SHAMPOO.
Work brush soap or shampoo into the bristles of the brush all the way down to the ferrule. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm to cool water until no trace of paint or suds are left. Paint residue that coats the bristles at their base will prevent them from coming together at the top. Gradually, the brush ends will spread apart until it no longer holds its shape.

6 3. STORE CLEAN YOUR BRUSH VERTICALLY Brush-SIDE-UP OR HORIZONTALLY.
Storing brushes brush-side-down will destroy the shape of the brush. Do not leave the brush in water for an extended period of time.
