2 Inferencing review Definition
An idea or conclusion that's drawn from evidence and reasoning. An educated guess. We learn about some things by experiencing them first-hand, but we gain other knowledge by inference — the process of inferring things based on what is already known. You can also make faulty inferences. Examples from Class Quick Inferencing Vid MST LASS Science analysis from lab work Hypothesis Math reflections Making predictions Reflecting on data Reading Responses Explicit vs IMPLICIT Q-Chart questions (quadrant 2-4) Reflecting on characters

3 STEREOTYPING/RACISM/DISCRIMINATION review
Definitions Stereotyping: an often unfair and untrue belief that many people have about all people or things with a particular characteristic. Racism: the belief that some races are better than others, and the actions that can happen from those beliefs. Discrimination: The unfair treatment of one particular person or group of people. Usually the different treatment is because of the person's sex, religion, nationality, ethnicity (culture), race, or other personal traits. Nike: What are Girls Made of? European Football Resolution to Racism & Discrimination

4 WORKING WITH UNLEARN. “unlearn.” is a program that encourages discussion around the issues of equity and for people to think critically about unconscious biases and how they can be reinforced by the media, their experiences and their relationships.  “unlearn.” workshops, resources, apparel and strategy building services explore ways we can use to stop stereotype thinking, racism, prejudice, oppression and discrimination.

5 WORKING WITH UNLEARN. Task
Your group will be assigned a poster on chart paper. You are to write anywhere on the chart paper your interpretation of the poster. What do you see? What does it mean to you? Inferences … implicit messages? After a period of time, individually you will view the other posters and work from other groups. For each, add your own interpretation of the poster if not already mentioned. Use “stickies” for the add-ons. We will discuss each poster
