1 Community-based natural resource management (CBNRM)

2 (CBNRM) What is Community based natural resource management (CBNRM) is a framework for advancing and combining community and conservation objectives. By transferring ownership or user rights from the Government to local communities

3 What is CBNRM? The concept of CBNRM is related to a variety of terms, including participatory community, community-based, collaborative, joint and popular natural resource management

4 CBNRM can provide affected communities with the necessary economic incentives to conserve and sustainably utilize their natural environment and wildlife resources.

5 Examples of such incentives can include harvesting of wildlife or wildlife products – eggs, skins, fleeces, live young, medicinal and aromatic plants; direct involvement with or licencing of tourism related facilities or activities, involvement and income from forest and reserve management.

7 A natural resource, in this case wildlife, is used sustainably, in this case primarily for safari hunting, which yields high financial benefits. The financial benefits are reinvested into management activities, such as monitoring, public education, and law enforcement, as well as community development projects, such as building new schools or health clinics.  

8 In Sudan This study was carried out in El Rahad Agricultural scheme in The main objectives of this study is to evaluate the community forest in El Rahad Agriculture scheme. Secondary data was obtained from reports, records, and previous related studies. in addition, interviews, were held with some officials and administrators of the scheme to clarify some points related to the study.

9 A questionnaire was prepared in Arabic to collect the primary data and 50 people were interviewed. The target groups are foresters, farmers, citizens, and community committees.

10 The study found the following:
1\ The community forest s satisfy the firewood for the people. And the Acacia nilotica trees consider as a main trees in the study area, so 78% of the respondent said these trees provides local needs like building poles, wood and firewood .

11 2\ The benefit of community forest is to provides some services to villages such as health services and water services

12 3\ The study recommended that great of forest needs to implement a policy of planted 5%of irrigated scheme with forest. Also to know the obstacles that prevent it .
