ANC/ANR reduces ambient noise so that the reproduced sound level can be turned down, reducing the users sound doses exposure
The experiment below, using HearAngel®, proves this:
In a noisy environment with the ANC turned off, play some music and set volume level so that you can hear it clearly
After 60 seconds go to the HearAngel® home screen and note 'time left' on the right hand side of the second bar down
Now activate the ANC/ANR and reduce the volume to a level where you can hear the music clearly again
After 60 seconds go to the HearAngel home screen and compare the 'time left' with the first reading
