Ms. Pezzella’s Disclosure
Welcome to Class! As we embark on this adventure of learning together, we must first establish the house rules:

Respect -Don’t talk when others are talking. -Whether it is the teacher trying to give directions or a classmate volunteering a comment, you should be listening quietly and attentively.

Respect the opinions and beliefs of others
-We will often have group and whole class discussions. Keep in mind that everyone sees the world in different ways and have had different experiences than you. Be kind, be considerate, treat others as you want to be treated. Let’s build each other up, not tear each other down!

Work Hard -Obtaining knowledge comes from hard work and diligence. You cannot learn if you don’t participate and put in effort. Come to class with ALL necessary materials INCLUDING an open mind and a good attitude.

Be Honest -Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Don’t sacrifice your integrity for a grade. Don’t cheat. Do your best: do your own work: ask for help–things will work out.

Late work -Late papers/projects are accepted but are docked 10% per day late. -Homework is accepted up to 1 week from due date for partial credit (30% off) -If you miss class it is your responsibility to check the blog to see what you need to start on. If you have an excused absence then talk to me, and we will work out how to make up work.

Assignments -10% Attendance/Participation -25% Homework -25% Quizzes -40% Essays/Tests/Projects

Food -Everyone has to eat, so I don’t mind if you feel the need to bring snacks. Keep them small and make sure your drinks have lids or covers. -Avoid bringing large and distracting foods to class like a full Thanksgiving dinner...unless you plan on sharing (:

-Gum is fine, but if I find it on the floor or under the desks–no more gum!

Phones -We may use them in class sometimes, but unless given specific permission for use they MUST be in a backpack or bag on silent mode.

Open Door Policy -If you have a problem with the class, classwork, another student etc. come talk to me. I will help in any way I can, and we will work something out!

CAVEAT -As a teacher committed to student success, I reserve the right to change the syllabus for the benefit of the class if necessary.
