2 The Transcontinental Railroad
People thought it would be easier to link East and West by using a transcontinental railroad. President Lincoln was a big supporter of the railroad. The Union and Central Pacific build the railroads.

3 The Gold Rush The gold rush started in 1849.
Lots of people settled in California to find gold. Also gold was found in Colorado in 1859 ever since people have ben going there. Gold flakes were also found there in Colorado. It was rare for miners to find gold since they were mining. Gold was also found in rivers as well.

4 Cowboys Cowboys sold longhorns for 4 dollars each but was worth 40 dollars in growing cities in the East. One famous cowboy was Nat Love he began working as a cowboy when he was 15 years old. Another thing cowboys did was cattle drive. Cowboys did things that were exhausting and dangerous.

5 Effects of the Railroads and Gold Rush
With many miners looking for gold there was less more gold to be found. Also
