3 Early Intervention Process
Sign up for Transition meeting (November) Held at DASD Administrative Office Attend transition meeting (November-February) Will be asked to sign release of information for CCIU to share records with DASD The special education supervisors, a school psychologist and CCIU representative will participate in the transition meeting with you Your child’s home building will receive EI information (November-February) The school psychologist in your child’s home building will contact you regarding next steps Meghan

4 Early Intervention Process Continued
School psychologist will issue 1 of 2 documents as a result of the transition meeting (ongoing) Accept Letter - the district is accepting the current evaluation and a school age IEP will be written Permission to Reevaluate - the district will conduct a reevaluation to identify appropriate services Once Permission is returned, the evaluation will take place within 60 days A feedback meeting will take place following the completion of the reevaluation (late spring into summer) If your child qualifies for a school age IEP, a meeting will be held within 30 days Developmental Delay Students If the district accepts the IEP, it will be implemented in the fall. The school team would hold a meeting by October 30th to discuss possible changes to the IEP Meghan

5 What to expect from your transition meeting?
Review of student supports in early intervention Signing of necessary paperwork Questions from school team Early childhood questions Questions about developmental milestones Opportunity to ask questions to the school team Any other questions or concerns regarding transition Transition Meetings are not for class placement purposes. Any decision about specialized classroom placement will be made by the student’s school team at the time of the IEP Ryan

6 How to Register for School
Registration will take place at your child’s home building the last week of February. Information will be posted on the district’s website in the winter (After January 1st) Or you can call your child’s home building Bring necessary documents to expedite registration Listed on the website If you have questions about registration or are unsure if you child will attend DASD next year, please share your concerns during your transition meeting Ryan

7 Accept Letters and Reevaluation
Two Outcomes of the transition meetings ACCEPT Your child has a school aged disability and DASD will accept the current IEP without an evaluation REEVALUATION A Reevaluation will be conducted with your child because they currently do not have a school aged disability (Developmental Delay) The team determined a Reevaluation is needed to clearly identify your child’s needs Ryan

8 Accept Letters Accept Letters
A special education teacher or speech therapist will send an invitation for the IEP meeting A DASD IEP team meeting will be held at Student’s home school An IEP will be written by a special education teacher from your child’s school team Ryan

9 Reevaluation Reevaluation
A permission will be issued for reevaluation, to include the types of assessments to be conducted Evaluations will be completed within 60 calendar days upon return of permission A feedback meeting will be held following the Reevaluation If the student continues to qualify, an invitation to participate in an IEP meeting will be sent If the student doesn’t qualify, regular education will be the recommended placement Ryan
