2 WHAT IS HUMAN TRAFFICKING?
Modern-day slavery and involves the use of force, fraud or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. There is an estimated million people who are currently being trafficked around the world.

A21 is a nonprofit organization with a mission to end slavery. Their “Can You See Me?” campaign is a public awareness campaign in hopes of calling the public to action.

6 There are a lot of misconceptions about human trafficking.
One of the main misconceptions is that there is not trafficking in the U.S. The U.S. is one of the top 10 destinations for human trafficking. Men, women and children of all ages are trafficked every single day, not just women.

7 GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS According to Department of Homeland Security, some traits traffickers look for in individuals can be psychological or emotional vulnerability, financial struggles, lack of safety and political instability.

8 THE INVISIBLE CRIME According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, these crimes often take place in plain sight and do not look dangerous at first glance. Trafficking occurs in restaurants, airports, schools, workplaces and homes.

9 According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, people are bought, sold and smuggled like modern-day slaves. Often beaten, starved and forced to work as prostitutes or to take jobs as migrant, domestic or factory workers with little or no pay.
