1 Weather

2 Weather in a Nutshell Weather is a combination of changing conditions.
The lowest layer is the troposphere. Weather depends on the elements. Weather in a Nutshell

3 Weather is primarily created by the sun’s heat and the effect of the atmosphere.
Heat causes water to evaporate. This evaporation causes clouds of water vapor. These cloud eventually create rain or snow. The sun’s heat warms rising airs, creating areas of high and low pressure. Wind is the movement of air from high to low pressure areas. It Starts With the Sun

4 One Giant System The sun is the one that starts the system.
The ocean covers 71% of the earth. The ocean fuels the weather so that whatever happens to the ocean happens to the weather. Although many people think the weather is a local event, it is an interconnected system. One Giant System

5 Sunshine and Temperature
People often judge the weather by the intensity of the sunshine. Temperature is measured with thermometers. On the Fahrenheit scale, 30 degrees Fahrenheit is the freezing point and 212 degrees Fahrenheit is the boiling point. On the Celsius scale 0 degrees Celsius is the freezing point, and 100 degrees Celsius is the boiling point. Sunshine and Temperature

6 Clouds and Precipitation
Clouds form when water vapor in the air rises into the atmosphere. Clouds keep building as long as warm, wet air continues to rise. Clouds release their moisture as rain or snow or other precipitation. Clouds are classified by their shape and height above the ground. Clouds and Precipitation

7 Wind Wind is the movement of air throughout the atmosphere.
Air moves in patterns based on areas of low and high pressure. Wind direction is affected by the rotation of Earth as well. Wind can be extremely damaging to human lives and property. Wind can also be harnessed to form clean energy. Wind
