China China was a highly-structured society. The Emperor was at the top, then kings and governors, then state officials and scholars, then peasants, then artisans and merchants, then soldiers, then slaves.

China China had many dynasties but one of the greatest on was called the Han around 202 BCE to 220 CE.

China They created the silk road, paper, compass and many other useful inventions.

China When their leader Emperor Ling died of natural causes there was lots of corruption and greed that led to a struggle for power over China

Han Dynasty The Government was structured so that it needed lots of money to keep their strong imperial army, expand the Great Wall and continue to build the silk road. Citizens were taxed and owed the government crops and a month of labor or military service Citizens were given civil service jobs (jobs with the government) if they were able to pass a test based on Confucius

Civil Service Jobs One of the major belief system in China that focused on respect, honesty, diligence and kindness was Confucianism These were skills that the Han Dynasty valued Although sometimes citizens that were loyal were rewarded with civil service jobs and because people had to pay money to take the exam; often only wealthy sons of landowners applied.

Three major Beliefs Buddhism: Life is full of suffering due to unlimited wants. To find happiness you need to stop wanting things Confucianism-a philosophy based on the teachings of Confucius. One needs to live life by a strict code of rules to better oneself Taoism: You need to keep things simple to find true happiness

Three Teachings

Buddhism

Confucianism Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do. The superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions.

Winnie the Pooh and Taoism

. China was very highly populated (even back then). Women were not treated equally to men.

Decline of the Han Empire
Inequality between the rich and poor Peasant revolt due to a new inexperience emperor and of course being upset by getting into debt because they could not afford to live, then losing their land to the rich, who did not have to pay taxes and then extra pressure of the poor to still pay their taxes. A great flood happened in 11 A.D. =starving people  Basically social, economical and political issues destroyed the Han Dynasty
