3 Reviewing Fronts Cold front: Warm front: Stationary front:
Occluded front:

4 Air Masses Air whose properties of temperature and moisture content (humidity), at any given altitude Classification: polar latitudes P - poleward of 60 degrees north and south tropical latitudes T - about 25 degrees of the equator continental c - large land masses--dry marine m - the oceans----moist

5 Air Masses and Fronts Air masses can control the weather for a relatively long time period: from a period of days, to months. Most weather occurs along the periphery of these air masses at boundaries called fronts.

6 Humidity Amount of water vapor in the air
“It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity” Muggy Why does it feel hotter on a high humidity day? Humans are sensitive to changes in humidity, because our skin uses the air around us to get rid of moisture in the form of __________. If the humidity is very high, the air is already saturated with water vapor and our sweat won't evaporate. What happens on a low humidity day?

7 Air Pressure AKA barometric pressure
