What does the government do?

Government is the institution through which a society makes and enforces its public policies. Government is made up of those people who exercise its powers, all those who have authority and control over people.
More simply put, Government is a set of Institutions

4. Government/Politics Are Politics and Government the same thing?
No, Politics is the process by which a society decides how power and resources will be distributed. Within that society.
Government is a set of Institutions
Politics is the process these Institutions utilize

5. Public Policy What is Public Policy?
Public Policy is all the things that the government decides to do. They can cover a wide range of things and the list is nearly endless.
In other words, Public Policy is the outcome or solution of Politics that these Government Institutions create.

In order to create policy, Government must have the authority to do so. We call this power.
Power is defined as the ability to command or prevent action, the ability to achieve a desired end.

11. Government Powers Government has three types of power Legislative
Executive
Judicial
These powers were granted to the Government through a document called the Constitution.
A Constitution is a set or body of fundamental laws or principles, setting out the guidelines or structure for a government.

12. Who holds the power? It depends on the government -Dictatorship

Single person controls the power

A small group controls the power

The masses (people) control the power

-Oligarchy (A small group has that power)
-Democracy (We all have that power)
