1. School Counseling Activity Plan : Planning a College Fair

2. Introduction/Rationale:
9th graders- Will be able to explore and have an idea of what colleges have to offer based on their interest. 10th graders- Will be a able to gain insight and narrow their interest to further evaluate college options. 11th graders- Should further evaluate their college paths and explore their occupational choices they want to pursue in college. 12th graders- Should be narrowing down top colleges based on the majors that they want to pursue.

3. Information about college fair:
Designed for 9th-12th graders both male and female.
Various colleges will be considered for this fair including: campus/population size, location of college (urban or rural), and different demographics ( ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic class).
The structure of the event will be held by booths in the gym.

4. Information about college fair:
This college fair is a school wide event and each grade level will get 2 hours to explore the event located in the gym.
Students will be able to explore and obtain information that interest them from each college.
Parents can schedule to attend based on their child’s grade level.

7. Principal & Administrators
Collaborating with the principal to set a calendar date for the event and discussing if the college day is foreseeable in the school budget.
Presenting to the principal about the possible benefits the college day will have for grade levels and getting acknowledgment to prepare the college fair is also another step to take with the principal.
Administrators will act as the regulators and monitors of the event time.
Administrators will also aid with helping promote safety and communication between other members of the college fair.
Administrators will also aid with the administrative process of the college fair by managing parking and monitoring guests entering and leaving the building.

8. School Counselors
School counselors are to plan the event as a team to provide cohesion and unity to the college fair.
School counselors must work together to advocate college awareness and readiness.
School counselor are to work together to seek aid in local businesses and in the community to help create a positive and informative college fair.
School counselors should also talk to parents and students during the college fair to provide further information if parents of students have any questions about college options and steps needed to take to learn more about the colleges.

9. Teachers
Teachers will be made aware of the college fair during the beginning of the school year to help promote awareness to students in their classroom about the college fair.
Teachers will help distribute consent forms to students to take to their parents.

10. Parents
Parents are to give consent for their students to be eligible to attend and be part of the college fair.
In the beginning of the school year, parents will be informed in the PTA meeting that they can attend the college fairs with students.
Encouraging parental involvement to provide insight and knowledge about college paths and college requirements is valuable for the overall experience of the college fair.

11. Community & Local Sponsorships
Collaborating and planning with locals business for the college fair should be noted.
Gaining financial support for the event can also be beneficial from the local sponsorships.
Ask minority community leaders to assist in the college fair to help aid minority groups in the school to understand and conceptualize information obtained in the college fair.
