1 OGB Partner Advocacy Workshop 18th & 19th March 2010
Moments for Review OGB Partner Advocacy Workshop 18th & 19th March 2010

2 What are moments for review?
Turning data into knowledge… Information Knowledge e.g. “The implementation of our intervention is going as planned but we are not seeing the results we expected”; or “We’re doing really well!” e.g. Statements from beneficiaries; Responses to surveys Learning Analysis e.g. Indicators; Perceptions; Representative anecdotes Data to know whether the changes that we intend to bring about are taking place in the way that we predicted

3 Points in time where relevant stakeholders come together to:
Monitoring Reviews Points in time where relevant stakeholders come together to: Link with campaign plan consider what reliable monitoring data is telling you about the implementation of activities, and progress towards intended outcomes, analyse and reflect on the information being collecting, where appropriate, make informed decisions to stop, adapt, or expand parts of the intervention 3 3

4 Monitoring Review Questions
What should we have achieved by now? What information have we gathered, how, and from whom? What’s working well and why? What problems are there and how can they be solved? What have we learnt about: the context the campaign area e.g. health the monitoring process itself? What are we going to do about it? Who will take action and when? What will we feed into other reports and discussions?

5 Evaluations more in-depth, objective assessments of our programme’s design, implementation and results at particular points in time – Help us to answer the question ‘why?’. In particular, they ask: ‘Are the right things being done?’ (theory of change), ‘Are things being done right?’ (implementation), ‘Are there better ways?’ (learning).

6 Next Steps… Ensure clear programme logic
Identify output and outcome indicators Plan data collection (who will collect what, when and how) Schedule Moments for Review, including Monitoring Reviews, and, where appropriate, Evaluations Identify capacity gaps and support needs
