4 Warm Up Using the questions below, interview a partner
Where is your family from? Do you have any animals? Where do you want to go to college? What are your interests outside of school? Using their answers on a notecard, compile a logical outline for how you would use this information to introduce your partner to an audience Note: you may need to ask follow-up questions of your partner to get enough interesting or coherent information!

5 Extemporaneous Speaking
Extemporaneous speaking is the art of using new information to present ideas to an audience WITHOUT practice or prior research Form groups of 4 and make sure you have laptops. Your assignment is in Canvas under the title “Introduction to Anglo-Saxons.”

6 Extemp cont. You will have 30 minutes to research your topic and present a 60 second speech to your group Your speech must include: A Thesis 3 supporting points or ideas Remember! A Thesis should answer an essential question for your audience. For example, a short informational speech on Anglo-Saxon culture might answer the question “How was this culture unique?” or “What were the most impactful cultural norms?”

7 Closure On your notecard (from the Warm-up), use the back side to identify: Which member of your group gave the best informational speech? What made that speech effective?
