2. FORMAT OF FINAL DEBATE Each team will give an opening statement
After the opening statements, each team will get 2 chances to speak about their position & comment on what the other team has said
Each team will give a closing statement to finish the debate

3. WHO WILL DO WHAT IN THE DEBATE?
Usually, the same person does the opening statement & closing statement This person is the better public speaker, but maybe not the best debater or able to think on their feet quickly.
The other person does the debating This person is good at thinking on their feet, using specifics, and staying calm while arguing.
**If you have 3 people in your group, 1 person does the opening statement, 1 closing statement, & 1 debater**

4. We will go over what to include in the opening, closing, and debating areas in the coming weeks.

5. We will be opening up the conversation to the class after the debates
We will be opening up the conversation to the class after the debates. Also, the class will vote after each debate on who they believe one their argument. That team will receive extra credit. **when voting, it’s not what you think is right, it’s who had the better arguments**
