People used to have to store food with salt or ice Easy transportation for things like fruit, vegetables, and meat

3 The Beginning Born on March 1, 1810 in Zelazola Wola
Moved to Warsaw when he was seven months old Began to play piano when he was 6 Lived in a a two room apartment in palace grounds of Kazimierz Palace

4 Musical Interest Father played violin and flute
Mother played piano and taught lessons to boys at the boarding house Chopin began to have lessons from his older sister, but soon moved on to learn from the Czech Wojciech Zywny By the age of seven, he had created two Polonaises Performed in front of audiences and Alexander I, Tsar of Russia

5 Education Tutored at home until the age of 13
Attended Warsaw Lyceum from 1823 to 1826 In 1826, studied three years of music with Józef Elsner at Warsaw Conservatory

6 The Road to Success Chopin was often a playmate of the son of Grand Duke Constantine Often compared to Mozart and Beethoven Traveled to Berlin in 1828 and played his newly composed piece, Introduction and Polonaise brillante in C major for piano and cello for Prince Antoni Radziwill, governor of the Grand Duchy of Posen

Wrote Scherzo in B minor, Op. 20 and “Revolutionary Étude” in C minor, Op. 10, No. 12. Funeral March A-flat Polonaise Fantasie-Impromptu in C sharp minor

8 George Sand Met at a party in Paris Chopin disliked her
George Sand (Amandine Aurore Lucille Dupin) liked him George and two kids stayed with Chopin and took care of him when he was sick In 1847, George and Chopin quietly ended their ten year relationship

9 Death Chopin’s sister came to be with him in Paris in his sickness
His student rented an apartment for him to heal in Chopin’s doctor thought he had died a couple of times through the night on October 15, 1849 Chopin died on October 17, 1849 in Paris, surrounded by his closest friends and family He was 39 when he died
