2 General information What is a letter of introduction?
A letter of introduction helps introduce you as a person to a potential employer What does it include? It can include details about your personal history, educational background, future dreams and desires as well as information about your skills/talents. How long is it? It should be approximately one page in length

3 Types of information to include
Life history, motivation and objectives Personal story Information about: Family School/University University Hobbies Extra-curricular activities Future dreams and goals

4 Format Letters of introduction are generally in the form of a short essay. They should have multiple short paragraphs. They must have a title. Subtitles (for each subsection) are optional. The title can be “Letter of Introduction” or something more creative. Indentation (tabbing the first line) is also optional.

7 1st paragraph: name, university
I would like to introduce myself to the best of my ability. My name is Hong Kil Dong and I will graduate from the Catholic University of Daegu in 2014 with a degree in English Language and Literature. The undergraduate curriculum included not only core classes such as grammar, linguistics, and literature but also conversation and composition. My GPA is 4.2 out of 4.5. I also got an 850 on the TOEIC.

8 2nd paragraph: major skills
As an English major with strong background, I can confidently say that I am capable of any task involving the use of the English language. In particular, my speaking proficiency allows me to speak naturally with people from other countries.

9 3rd paragraph: Family history
I grew up in Daegu in a loving family with two siblings. My father spent much of his life working for Debec Department Store while my mother served as a homemaker. My older sister works for Samsung Fire Insurance while my younger brother is a Chinese teacher in Seoul. Our family values trust, kindness, and honesty.

10 4th paragraph: Educational Background
Before attending university, I studied at and graduated from Hayang Elementary School, Muhak Middle School, and Gyeongshin High School. I received many awards in school and was ranked ninth among forty students in my graduating class in high school.

11 5th paragraph: Work Experience
Although I am still young, I would like to humbly mention that I have substantial working experience. During my part-time job as assistant manager at Family Mart, I learned the importance of a strong work ethic and being polite to customers.

12 6th paragraph: Hobbies, skills
In my spare time, I like to do yoga, meet new people and study English. I am good at using computers and am certified in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I can manage people effectively and work well under tight deadlines.

13 7th paragraph: Objective
I realize that choosing a new employee in this day and age is not an easy task. I also understand that hiring a recent graduate is a risky decision. Nevertheless, I believe that I can make an important contribution to the future success of your company. I aspire to help your organization grow while upgrading and improving my skills at the same time.
