3 Monday: Computer Lab/Narrative
Type up your narrative adding the detail and show language you came up with in class and for homework. Use your time wisely in the lab! Please don’t abuse the computers or unhook the mouse or keyboards. When I give the 10 min warning: If you’re finished with your essay, print it AND it to me as an attachment. If you’re not finished, it to yourself as an attachment and finish it tonight. Close out of everything, log off, clean up your area, and line up at the door. PLEASE DO NOT CONTINUE WORKING AFTER I GIVE THE 5 MIN WARNING! My Don’t forget the MN after stepacademy!

4 Daily Writing: Mean as a Snake 09/17/13
Similes and metaphors are two ways of making comparisons. Similes use “like” or “as” (He is as sly as a fox). Metaphors simply imply one thing is another (The world is a stage). Write a paragraph that uses as least 1 simile and 1 metaphor. Planner: Due tomorrow: Title: Current Events Sept. Wk 2

5 Tuesday: Vocab & Reading
Did you me your 2nd draft? Assign new textbooks (because of the moving…) and turn to Walter Mitty questions (pg. 134). Show me your Walter CT HW in your journal. Discuss #5 with a partner as I check and finish the question. Share with the class.

6 Tuesday: Vocab & Reading
Turn your chairs so you’re not facing your peer. Vocab & reading quiz. On the back of your vocab quiz, write the answers to the reading and writing quiz on pg If you have questions about what a word means in the sentence, or what a word means within a definition, please ask!

7 Daily Writing: Social Media 09/18/13
Choose one prompt to respond to and explain with detail: Have you ever attacked someone or his/her ideas online? Write about what happened. If you’ve never attacked anyone, write about ideas you’d like to attack, and why.

8 Wednesday: Comparing Themes
Hand in your current events HW. 2nd narrative drafts?? Read about themes on pg. 160 (take notes). As we read, If I Forget Thee Oh Earth and Silent Spring, fill out a Venn diagram. Journal title: Venn on Earth and Spring Read and finish the Critical Thinking ?s. Journal title: Earth CT Share your answers with a partner. Share with the class.

Read from Silent Spring on pg Finish your Venn on Earth and Spring diagram in your journal. Finish “After You Read” on pg. 171 (including Comparing Themes, Writing to Compare Themes, & Vocabulary). Title: Comparing Themes Hand it in before you leave.

Friday: Editing Peer editing directions & checklist. Find at least two people to fill out the check list (double sided) and edit your paper. me your final draft of your narrative no later than Wednesday night. Turn in your rubric, marked up 2nd draft, and editor’s checklist on Thurs. Peer Grade (turn it in before you leave): On a separate piece of paper write each editor’s name, a grade for them, and a justification for the grade. YOU will be graded on your honest detailed explanation.
